OUR VISION & MISSION

Harmony Baptist Church exists to make disciples who BUILD their lives on Jesus and PURSUE the good of our community for the glory of God.

Core Values

The vision for Build & Pursue comes from:

Jeremiah 29:7 - “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”

Romans 12:1 – “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

At Harmony we want every member, individually and corporately, to connect with God and deepen their relationship with Him through these aspects of Biblical worship:

• Engaging in Gospel-centered preaching and teaching.
• Growing in knowledge of God and His Word.
• Actively seeking God’s face in prayer.
• Participating in worship through music.
 Giving sacrificially to the church.

Acts 2:42 – “And they devoted them- selves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

The goal of biblical community is to connect with other believers. There are some markers to ensure that we are practicing Biblical community here at HBC:

 Active engagement in discipleship opportunities.
Understanding and utilizing your spiritual gifts.
 Gospel-centered fellowship and accountability.

2 Corinthians 5:20 – “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

Our Biblical mission is to connect with the lost community around us. There are many ways we want to accomplish this:

• Being aware of, and engagingin, everyday personal opportunities to share the Gospel.
• Participating in church-wide outreach opportunities throughout the year.
• Taking part in local, national, and international missions opportunities.

Micah 6:8 – “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Our church is devoted to connecting the afflicted and hurting in our society with the compassion and justice of God, our King. These acts of service are not only to share the Gospel, but to show the Gospel:

• Making a commitment to care for widows and orphans, the marginalized and hurting.
• To work for righteousness and serve our fellow man regardless of their belief.

BE THE MOVEMENT

Our missions model is rooted in the heart and history of how the disciples functioned in the Bible.

Jerusalem

This was home base for the disciples. It was their closest community—the place where they lived and worshipped. It was also the place where the Gospel first took root and began to spread.

For us, “Jerusalem” represents the people closest to us—our family, friends, and church community. These are the relationships where we are most known and where our faith is most visible. It is often the hardest place to live on mission because there is no distance or anonymity—our lives either reinforce or contradict our message.

Being faithful in our Jerusalem means intentionally living as ambassadors of Christ in everyday life. It means modeling the Gospel well in our homes, speaking truth with love to those we care about, and pursuing meaningful spiritual conversations along the way. It also means serving, discipling, and investing in the people God has already placed around our church walls.

We don’t overlook Jerusalem while dreaming about the nations—we start here—in Arlington, Texas. A healthy missions mindset begins with a burden for the people we see every day and a commitment to faithfully represent Jesus right where we are.

<span style="letter-spacing: 0.1rem;"><span style="color: var(--tertiary-color-bg);">Judea and Samaria</span></span>

Judea and Samaria

When persecution hit the church, many believers fled to Judea. Judea was the larger surrounding region. It was still familiar, but broader. This represents your workplace, your neighborhood, and your acquaintances. Those you may share your background, your culture, or faith, but may not be believers.

Samaria represents the uncomfortable and unfamiliar. Samaritans were seen as outsiders. They were culturally and religiously different. They were mixed-race people, partly Jewish, but with their own version of worship. The Jews would avoid Samaria and even travel extra miles to go around it. But yet, Jesus would break this division by ministering to Samaritans, like the Woman at the Well and the Good Samaritan. This represents the people you may avoid or those different from you. People from different social classes, political groups, different races, or people you just don’t like.

Are you willing to reach across boundaries, prejudices, or hurts to share Christ? Are you willing to engage with the people outside your comfort zone?

<span style="color: var(--tertiary-color-bg);"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.1rem;">the ends of the earth</span></span>

the ends of the earth

This is the global mission of God: that every nation, tribe, and tongue would hear and believe in Jesus Christ. From the beginning, God’s plan has always been bigger than one people or one place and therefore, the Gospel is not meant to stay local—it is meant to go global.

For us, “the ends of the earth” represents those who are farthest from us geographically, culturally, and spiritually. These are the unreached and underserved—places where there are few churches, very limited gospel witness, and millions who have never truly heard the name of Jesus.

We might not all get to go, but regardless, we are all called to be engaged. And so, you can participate in this mission by praying for the nations, giving generously, sending and supporting missionaries, and raising up people from within our church who will go. Some will be called to cross cultures and carry the Gospel where it is not yet known.

A healthy church should embrace God’s heart for the world and long to see the glory of God fill the earth. Our missions team is committed to being part of that work. We partner with trusted ministries, invest in global efforts, and send teams to serve and support the spread of the Gospel.

Partnership with embrace grace

Partnership with embrace grace

Our church is devoted to connecting the afflicted and hurting in our society—especially single moms—with the compassion and justice of God, our King. We believe no woman should walk through fear or uncertainty alone. As the body of Christ, we are uniquely equipped with the resources, gifts, and love to come alongside her, helping her find courage and confidence in life-changing decisions. Through intentional support, community, and care, we create spaces where moms can embrace both their child and their future with hope. In this, we are not only sharing the Gospel with our words, but showing the Gospel through our actions—trusting that as churches unite, we can help make choosing life a supported, hopeful, and undeniable path forward.
